Workman loses thumb, then finger - 24/3/2003

A UK factory worker lost the tip of his finger on an automated
guillotine then cut off another finger while demonstrating how
the first accident occurred. Twenty-five year old Keith Sanderson
was showing his supervisor how the guillotine had run across
the end of this thumb, when he lopped off half his index finger in
the machine. Kitchen work surfaces manufacturer Macy Panel
Products was found guilty of failing to take "effective measures to
prevent access to dangerous equipment" and was fined œ1500
(A$3,952). Company director Paul Nelson described the accident
as "baffling".
